General Tour Questions

Find us at the corner of Apres Vous Rd and Granite Loop Rd in the Village! We are in a small, unmarked parking lot directly across Granite Loop Rd from Snake River Lodge. You’ll see a cabin at the entrance of the lot - keep walking! We are at the far end of the lot, by the large snow pile. You should see our large dog-trucks parked at the end of the lot.

Yes! Free parking is available for the duration of your tour in our small unmarked lot. All other parking lots in Teton Village are paid lots that typically cost $25-$45/day.

No. Dogsledding is not allowed inside the National Park. Our trail touches the southern boundary of GTNP, in a beautiful open area just north of Teton Village that feels a lot more remote than it actually is.

Yes! On clear days you’ll get excellent, up-close views of the Teton range, along with views of the Gros Ventre range across the valley. Our trail runs north of Teton Village, so while you’ll still be able to see the skiers and snowboarders careening down the mountain, we do get to escape from the hotels and residential areas.

Typically no. While we border GTNP, most wildlife will tend to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the ski resort. To many of the wild animals in this valley, our pack of sleddogs look and sound a lot like the predators they avoid. Occasionally we will see moose, elk, coyote, fox, skunk, and birds of prey while either out on trail, or on the drive to and from Teton Village. Keep your eyes peeled, you never know what might come running out of the woods!

Nope! The only outfitter in the area with permits to get to Granite Hot Springs by dogsled is Jackson Hole Iditarod.

We have access to approximately 4 miles of trail that winds its way through a small wooded section, and then runs mostly through an expansive, 175 acre private parcel at the base of the Tetons.

You can expect to be out on the trail in the sleds for about 40-45 minutes.

Unfortunately no. Our trail is shaped like an out-and-back lollipop, where we can access the trail from the start/end point, and would not be able to switch out guests half way through the tour. We can however, turn around and head home at any point, so if kids (or adults!) aren’t feeling it, we can always return to the starting area within a few minutes.

No. We operate on private land and are restricted to the size of the parcel. For a half day or full day tour check out the two other dogsledding outfitters in the area! Continental Divide Dogsled Adventures (north of Jackson), or Jackson Hole Iditarod (south of Jackson).

Bookings & Cancellations

We will require full payment by credit card at the time of booking to secure your spot. We will also accept cash payments, but will require a credit card to be put on file until the cash payment is received on the day of your tour.

We have a 7-day cancellation policy. Any cancellations made outside of the 7-day window will result in a full refund. Any cancellations made within the 7-day window leading up to your tour date will result in a full forfeiture.

If you cancel within the 7-day window and we are able to re-sell your cancelled sled(s), we would then issue you a refund based on how many sleds we were able to rebook.

We do not recommend booking a tour on a travel day. Even though the Jackson airport is well equipped to deal with harsh winter weather, many connecting airports are not. We are unable to make exceptions to our cancellation policy due to cancelled or delayed flights.

If we have to cancel your tour for any reason, we would issue a full refund.

Our kennel is located on the west side of the Tetons and we travel over Teton Pass daily. Teton Pass can close at any time due to winter storms, avalanche danger, high winds, car accidents, you name it. Most of our cancellations come from not being able to physically reach our touring location on a morning following WYDOT avalanche mitigation on the pass after a heavy storm.

The second reason would be trail conditions. If we cannot safely operate on sleds, nor offer a suitable alternative, we would need to cancel your tour.

Typically no. It might sound crazy, but our dogs LOVE the cold, windy, and super snowy days over the warm sunny days. The optimal running temperature range for these athletes is anywhere from negative 10F to positive 10F!

We operate in a unique area between the base of the Tetons and the Snake River. In a normal winter, we frequently see negative temperatures in the mornings due to the inversion. Once the sun comes out the temps will start to rise. Groups with children 6 or younger will be allowed to reschedule to a warmer time slot if temps are -20 or below at the time of the originally scheduled trip, dependent on availability.

We will potentially cancel your tour if we expect the temps to reach 40 or higher. There are many factors to consider when making these decisions, but usually around early to mid march we’ll start seeing “spring conditions” where the temps are still plenty cool in the mornings, but wayyy too hot to run the teams in the sunny afternoons. We will do our best to reschedule your tour if we must cancel due to temps.

If there is insufficient snow, or unsafe conditions where running the sleds will not be possible - we reserve the right to switch to dog powered wheeled carts or dog powered ATV’s to perform the scheduled tours at a partially refunded rate. We will not cancel tours due to lack of snow. We will switch to appropriate rigs for the conditions for the safety of both our guests and our dogs.

A transitional period is possible! In the event we cannot run sleds nor ATV’s, your trip would be cancelled. Please give us a call at 307-413-6637 if you have any questions about current conditions.

Clothing, Gear, Restrictions

You will be sitting inside of a cushioned, canvas sled bag for the majority of the tour. We will provide blankets for guests, and we have plenty of goggles on hand for guests to borrow if needed. We have beanies and gloves/mitts for purchase at our office.

We can fit up to 2 adults per sled with a max weight limit of 400lbs. Unfortunately we cannot fit more than 2 adults per sled, regardless of total weights.

Give us a call or send us an email at info@callofthewyld.com and we’ll see what we can do!

Yes. Each sled can accommodate up to 400lbs of combined guest weight. Please give us a call or send us an email if you have any questions about weight restrictions. Occasionally we are able to make limited exceptions to our policy with advance notice.

Let your guide know at the beginning of the tour if you’re interested in driving the team! Our guides will pick a good section of trail to get you up on the runners for a short period - trail conditions dependent.

Yes!! Our dogs are incredibly friendly, and we encourage you to pet them if you would like to! Most of our dogs love ALL the attention they can get. We do have a few that are a little unsure about meeting new people, so if a dog is not interested in being petted, we will simply move on to the next one. We will always have staff available to introduce you to the dogs and to supervise interactions.

Please give us a call at 307-413-6637 or send us an email at info@callofthewyld.com. Our office is staffed 7 days/week from late November through the end of March. During the off-season we are usually out and about working with the dogs, but will continue to monitor the phone and email for inquiries!!
